San Carlos Elms Resident Reflects on Chicken's Ball in a Poem

Chicken's Ball
By: Rosemary Bishop
The Chicken's Ball is not in a hen house.
It is not just a one night stand!
The hens are not browned and skewered!
And they dance to a very loud band.

Let me tell you the story-
of how it began.
Not a story, but the truth.
About a women of ill-repute and Dapper-Dan.

Our Ball began more than seventy years ago.
Then it was a one night stand.
Little did we know how it would grow.
The music was all canned.

Can't describe the pleasure and funds.
It brings to all involved!
Both the audience and the Hens.
Get many problems solved.

The sets and costumes are beautiful.
Say Chicken's Ball and get a smile.
Being involved is a thrill for life.
To see it you'd walk a mile.
