Today was a day to honor our veterans, thank them for serving for our country. We had a ceremony today for all our veterans here at San Carlos Elms.
Each resident was given a red, white, and blue ribbon with a flag pin if they served, a poppy with a frilled red ribbon if they had a spouse that served, and if they had a poppy with a red ribbon they had a relative that served.
Kathleen was privileged to pin Henry before the ceremony.
Jamie is the Girl Scout Leader of Troop 393 who participated in our ceremony this year.
Troop 393 has been working hard this year on achieving their Girl Scout Silver Award at San Carlos Elms mostly in our Memory Program, The Grove.
Today the Girl Scout Troop help lead our residents in patriot songs.
What the Girl Scout Troop did not know is that we had a surprise for them. The American Legion Auxiliary District 8 wanted to awarded them for all their hard work they have shown to the veterans. They received individual certificates and coins awarded only to those who have served above and beyond excellence in community service. We thought today would be the perfect day to surprise them.
Thank you Girl Scout Troop 393.
Thank you American Legion Auxiliary Unit 510, District 8.
Together we made this a memorable Veterans Day.
