Latest News from San Carlos Elms and Grove

We would like to thank all our volunteers! Young and Matured alike, you make a difference in each residents life when you visit. Thank you to our residents who also take the time to volunteer inside The Elms as well as outside in the Community of San Carlos. You can not spell volunteer without "U", Thank you all.  

Grace had a wonderful time celebrating her birthday with her family and friends at San Carlos Elms today.     Grace made sure to walk around and thank everyone who came down to her party.   We had drinks, cake, music, but most of all great conversations.   Grace had no problem blowing out her candles. She said thank you for not putting 91 on the cake.

Today we went out to lunch. Had a great time laughing, eating and sharing stories.  

Arts & Crafts is always a fun time for each resident to express themselves. This past week we were able to use the water beads that Hallmark donated to use to show case each of our own personalities. Mabel can't wit to see her water beads expand to their fullness.  Caroline had fun mixing her colors up then watching them grow. Carla enjoyed picking out her flowers to go along with her water beads. Thank you Mabel for fixing the sample flowers they were just not placed right.

Today we had a delicious treat. Audrey Nickell a Registered Dietitian came in to San Carlos Elms today to show the residents how to choose the right food for them.  The residents had great questions with regards to medications and other health issues like diabetes.  Audrey even had food from our dining room presented during her presentation. Showing just how many options the residents have to choose from. At the end of Audrey's presentation she gave all of us a fun quiz about nutrition.

Doris celebrated a wonderful birthday yesterday in our Memory Program with her family and friends. Doris made sure to let everyone know that it was her birthday. Happy Birthday, Doris!
