Dr. Ramsay Visits San Carlos Elms to Check Hearing Aides

 

Dr. Ramsay Poindexter has been enthusiastically serving the needs of the deaf and hard of hearing for over ten years. Growing up with a deaf grandmother, Dr. Poindexter developed a life-long passion for providing excellent hearing healthcare. She has been specializing as a dispensing and rehabilitative audiologist at the California Hearing Center since 2007, and also provides diagnostic audiology services to a local otolaryngology practice. With California Hearing Center, she provides audiology consultation and field study services to various hearing device manufacturers. She began her career at the University of California, San Francisco where she provided hearing and vestibular diagnostics, tinnitus evaluation and rehabilitation, as well as dispensing services to pediatric and adult populations. She broadened her skill set by pursuing specialty training in intra-operative neurophysiological monitoring with a variety of surgical specialties serving multiple Bay Area hospitals. She is board certified by the American Board of Audiology. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Audiology and she serves on the board directors as Northern California Representative for the  California Academy of Audiology. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Communication Disorders and Speech Science from the University of Colorado, Boulder, a Master of Science in Audiology from California State University, Sacramento, and her Doctor of Audiology from A.T. Still University of Health Sciences.  Ramsay grew up locally and lives in San Mateo, California. She is the daughter of a dentist in the area. Prior to starting her audiology career, she worked in special education and as a local professional tennis instructor. When she isn’t at work, you might find her playing with her dog, snowboarding, surfing, riding her bike, traveling, sewing, and spending quality time with her niece and nephews. 

 

 

We were so happy to welcome her to San Carlos Elms today and every month to check Residents hearing aides. She will also educate Residents who might need hearing aides and are not sure of the cost with their insurance.
