Thank you to  Suzie Budrick Hughes  for getting San Carlos up and running with the Music and Memory Program. We welcome all our volunteers to help in this program. It is very rewarding. Freida and Suzie enjoying their first meeting. Freida getting lost in her Polka music, she so enjoys. Mary is enthusiastic about her music. Becky is so happy with her music. Harriet is all smiles with her music. Frances was so happy she started to make her own music. Anne did too. Thank you to Suzie, One Life Counseling and all the volunteer for making this happen. We enjoy all your visits, hard work and look forward to seeing you soon.

Jessica Huckabay from Care Indeed lead a wonderful Laughter Yoga lesson this morning. The Residents learned the health benefits of laughing and exercise moves to accommodate the laughter. We learned all different styles of laughter from the "milkshake" to the "cell phone". We are looking forward to having Jessica back each month with a new topic, but perhaps more laughing along with it. Thank you Jessica for coming in today and we look forward to you next lesson. The Residents were excited to see Mayor Cameron Johnson and hear all the new things happening in San Carlos. We are so grateful for Mayor Cameron to take time out of his busy schedule to come see our Residents.  

We had such fun in the sun today on our Lunch Out on the Patio. Thanks to Nino's Pizza it was a delicious lunch!!! We all enjoyed the shade while eating our scrumptious pizza. Each Resident shared and traded pizza with each other. Don was even lucky to get some of the left overs.

We would like to thank our house dog, Curley for brightening every Resident's day on this National Dog Day! Curley relaxing in the morning sun on the patio, Spending quality time with Dennis. Sharing a birthday moment with Claire and Ruth. Curley loves to show his silly side.   He always has to look beautiful. Curley likes a good book from time to time. He loves to get dressed for all holidays. Especially Halloween-Where's Curley? After a long day of all the love he has spread he always takes a well deserved nap on his pillow with his favorite toy.

"National Banana Split Day is observed annually on August 25th! Traditionally served in a long dish, called a boat, a banana is cut in half lengthwise and laid in the dish with scoops of vanilla, chocolate and strawberry ice cream placed in between. The strawberry ice cream is complimented with pineapple topping." We had all the fixings today in our bright, round bowls. Each Resident was able to select what flavor of ice cream they wanted underneath their layers of whip cream, nuts, cherries and selection of sauces. Loraine loved her vanilla ice cream with caramel and chocolate sauce; accompanied by cherries, bananas and nuts. Everyone who attended had a great time!!!
