San Carlos Elms Indulge in an Ice Cream Sundae

"National Banana Split Day is observed annually on August 25th! Traditionally served in a long dish, called a boat, a banana is cut in half lengthwise and laid in the dish with scoops of vanilla, chocolate and strawberry ice cream placed in between. The strawberry ice cream is complimented with pineapple topping."
We had all the fixings today in our bright, round bowls.
Each Resident was able to select what flavor of ice cream they wanted underneath their layers of whip cream, nuts, cherries and selection of sauces.
Loraine loved her vanilla ice cream with caramel and chocolate sauce; accompanied by cherries, bananas and nuts.



Everyone who attended had a great time!!!

 San Carlos Elms was excited and honored to be apart of the Peninsula Multifaith Coalition again this year.  We were worried how it was going to all pan out, but thanks to a fantastic group of leaders and volunteers it was a huge success!!! We started the morning with an opening ceremony on Zoom celebrating Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, featuring guest speakers Rep Jackie Speier , Senator Josh Becker ,and Rev Lorrie Owens  President of San Mateo NAACP . Once we all had our history lesson and the power of community through the work of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. it was time to get to work.  Cards were created for all of our residents and magazines were donated too. Volunteers created and donated beautiful bouquets of flowers.   They are out spreading cheer for both our Residents and Staff. Thank you Peninsula Multifaith Coalition , we hope we can meet in person next year, but what a wonderful job you all did!!!
